Lass Malo Papua New Guinea - Espresso Single Origin

$14.00

Journey to the lush, river-rich Eastern Highlands of Papua New Guinea, where a single, ancient tree inspired a vision: Lass Malo, "Last Tree," was born from the dedication of Maureen Ken and her husband Ken Dumudi. Here, amidst thriving rainforest valleys and abundant rivers, Maureen and Ken built their coffee factory—one that empowers local farmers to bring their best coffee to market at sustainable prices.

In this remote terrain, access to essential equipment was once a distant hope. But Maureen, a pioneering local businesswoman, set out to change that. Founded in 2015, Lass Malo Coffee bridges the gap, supporting local farmers with infrastructure and resources that enable them to fully realize their coffee’s potential. With a focus on quality and community, Lass Malo now employs eight full-time staff and provides work to up to 30 local women who hand-sort each bean.

Savor this coffee’s deep, complex notes of tropical fruit and cocoa—every sip crafted by a community that honors its land and legacy.

Colombia

Colombia has been producing and exporting coffees renowned for their full body and bright acidity since the early 19th century. Thanks to its wide range of coffee-growing regions, microclimates, and altitudes, Colombia can meet demand for coffee throughout the whole year.

Colombia’s coffee producers are increasingly quality-focused and innovative in the way they approach the growing specialty market. Today, there are an estimated 540,000 coffee producers in the country; around 95% of these are smallholder farmers with landholdings that are under 5 hectares. These farmers collectively contribute around 16% of the country’s annual agricultural GDP.
